The Senate


|
The President’s working residence is located in the Senate building in the Kremlin. The residence is divided into a working and a ceremonial section. The working section includes offices for the President and his closest aides, a ceremonial office, the hall where the Security Council meets and the Presidential Library.

The former building of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet, another part of the president’s residence in the Kremlin, is located not far from the Spasskaya Tower and was the first building built in the Kremlin during the Soviet period.

The Great Kremlin Palace


|
The Great Kremlin Palace is the setting for formal occasions. The inauguration ceremony takes place here, as do ceremonies to award state decorations and to accept the credentials of new diplomats and receptions marking important state holidays. The palace was commissioned by Tsar Nicholas I and built by the famous Petersburg architect Konstantin Ton in 1838-1849.

Novo-Ogaryovo

The president has the use of Novo-Ogaryovo, a residence outside Moscow on the Rublyovo-Uspenskoye highway. Novo-Ogaryovo officially became a presidential residence in 2000. |
